Descendants of Johannes Hofer (born ? in Switzerland, died Washington County MD sometime after 1780; many descendants (mostly Huffers) from Frederick and Washington Counties MD)
Descendants of Daniel Hoffer (born in PA, probably around 1780 +-; died about 1839 in Fairfield County OH; most heirs retained the "Hoffer" spelling of the name; might be related to Johannes Hoffert but I have not been able to establish a connection; Giles & Mary Hoffer published a 484-page genealogy of this family in 1975)
Descendants and Ancestors of Christian Hoffart(h) (born in Germany 1716,
died in Frederick County MD in 1788; Christian's descendants have variously
spelled their name Hoffart, Hoffert, Hufford and Hufferd; most of the
information on this family comes from the work of
Alice Marie Beard).
Added to this line is the
Hartsing family of Germany and Wood County OH. Two of Christian
Hartsing's sons (George and Michael) married Hufford sisters, Susan and
Elizabeth, daughters of Jacob Staley Hoffert (1798-1884) of Wood County OH (added
6/19/2012).
Descendants of Joseph Hoffer (born before 1755, died 1812 Lancaster County PA; grandson Abraham Hoffer/Huffer settled in Greene County OH and named a community Huffersville, a town which is long gone)
Descendants of Jacob Huffer (born 1780-90; lived in KY before 1810, later moved to Clermont County OH; I have limited information on this line, a few 5th-generation Huffers in Bartholomew County IN in the early 1900's; no leads on Jacob's ancestry in this country or abroad)
Descendants of Samuel Huffer (born 1785 PA, died 1864 Hancock County IN; father may have been Jacob, but no further data on his ancestors; 7th and a few 8th generation descendants, IN and elsewhere)

Descendants of Georg Hoffer (born ca. 1835 in Bayern, living in New York City by 1861)
Several English Huffer families, including ancestors of
Arthur Huffer (1887-1972) of Westmoreland County PA (interestingly, both of
Arthur's parents were Huffers, from different families in Hertfordshire County
England!);
also descended from the same line of English Huffers is
George R. Huffer (1836-?) of Monroe County NY.
Recently added: some
descendants of William Huffer (b. abt 1534 Bourne, Lincolnshire, England)
French Huffers! Descendants of Leopold Huffer, b. 1825 in Germany, immigrated to the U.S. and lived in New York around 1850. Many or most of his descendants (at least 3 sons, 1 daughter) lived and worked in Paris, France; later generations remained in France.
